The main screen:

NameBase immediately locates records as you start typing a person's name. For example, when you type the letter "p", NameBase locates the first record where the LastName starts with "p". If you then type the letter "a", you will immediately be looking at the first record that starts with "pa", etc. This search works on whatever field you are sorted by, not just LastName.

You can rearrange columns, lock columns in place, and change their width. You can change data right on this screen or on the Edit screen.

The View/Edit screen:

This is where you edit or view all the data in a record. You get to this screen by double-clicking any record on the previous screen or by simply pressing the Enter key or the View/Edit button.

The first letter of each word is capitalized as you type. Any of the field labels appearing in blue can be changed, just like the rest of the data.

The Category Assignment Screen:

You can assign each record to categories you create. This is great for keeping track of groups of people or things. You can then view and print just the records in that category.

The Reminders screen:

Here is where you indicate the events and dates you want to be reminded of.  When you start NameBase, reminders that are due can be displayed.

The Filters screen:

This screen lets you display any set of records you can think of, based on any criteria. This is a very powerful query tool, and you can save all your queries for future use. The power of the SQL language and Microsoft Access functions are available to you on this screen.  There is also a much simpler "Find" feature, where you type any text you want to search for, and NameBase displays all records containing that text.

Show selected records:

Note the 3 records below that have an "x" in the left-most column. The x is placed there by simply clicking the mouse in that column. This selects the record. When you press the button the says "Show selected records only" (in the lower left part of the screen), only those records will be displayed. Any reports you print will only include those records. You can just as easily select the records you want to exclude.

This has been a sample of just some of the NameBase screens.  NameBase has been around a long time, and has evolved over the years to include the features most people need.
